I was determined to get outside and get a photo during daylight hours instead of rummaging around my house at 10pm. Right when I got home it started to rain - but that passed pretty quickly so I headed outside to see what fun I could have. Here we have a lone raindrop hanging off one of the flowers. I probably should have had my close-up lens, but I do like the bokeh in this shot.
What's not fun about Tinkertoy's? Nothing special, just a fun picture. Reminds me of the Giant Tinkertoy's I used to play with at my grandma and grandpa's! Those go for big money on eBay these days - by the way.
I have more tomatoes from my garden than one person can eat - so I decided I wanted to find a recipe to make some type of tomato & avocado salsa to have with tilapia and coconut rice (YUM!). So I found this recipe for tomato, avocado and mango salsa - it was one of the BEST things I have ever eaten!! I'm not sure my picture does it justice - taking photos of food and making them look appetizing is much harder than it looks!
I did some slight adjustments to exposure as the originals were a tad dark.
Again using my close-up lens, I was looking to get some of the detail in the dark purple leaves of this plant. This particular leaf was smaller and much more purple than the others.
I was playing around with my close-up lens along with my tripod. I was trying to show some of the detail of the lose eye shadow in each of the jars. I think if the counter would have been slightly darker the shot would have had a bit more interest.
Again from our trip to California, this is the tasting room at Quivira Winery and my boys Mark and Todd. I liked the perspective of the glasses as the focus of the picture, with the people more in the background.
I had a bit of a crazy week and did not get pictures in for 2 days - so this and the next are cheater days. This picture is from our trip to California - we were in a candy store in San Francisco and I liked the black and white contract of this set of jars.
Flying kites in the park today! This was a running start to get the kite in the air! It photo is a tad overexposed for my taste, but it was a really bright late afternoon. I did not do any post processing on this one.
I thought I would try playing with depth of field against these sections of the newspaper. I wanted one to be the focal point, while still being able to read the other two. This shot pulled that together the best.
It's that time of year when the tomato plants really start to produce! This is just one small bowl of the harvest I had on my counter this particular day. I liked how the colors really pop in the white bowl.
I was headed down to the parkway to get a photo of an interesting tree that I had seen there the day before, but ended up on the bridge over the river and had some fun with the ripples in the water when I dropped stones in. I like the multiple set of circles in this picture, as well as the reflection of the trees in the water.
These are some decorative stones that I have in a vase, and I thought they might make an interesting picture spread on my black table. The lighting gave me a bit of an issue, but I did the some of the reflection that I was looking for. The colors are a bit warm, but I did not do an post processing on this one.
Admitted cheat day. But in looking for a fun photo to post, I found this one which I took when we were out in Wine Country in July. Mark had a very hot cup of tea and I was trying to capture the steam on camera. This was the best of the bunch - not the best shot, but something that would be fun to work on again.
I ended up taking the side roads to work today as the freeway was backed up in a major way. I notice this area on the side of the road that had all these branches lined up in the ground. This area is in the Menomonee Valley, so perhaps there are Native American influences in this display.
Another night looking for something interesting to take a picture of. I started out with some flowers, but they were just not cutting it. Then I tried this street sign and really liked how it turned out. The depth of field is what does it for me!
Batman flying through the air! This pic didn't turn out as I had wanted in my head as I could not get the angel I wanted. But I still liked how this one worked out.
The night before Connor's 4th Birthday Party and these were all his presents from his dad! They were filled with many, many, many superhero gifts! And in dad's defense, many were clothes (shirts and jammies)!
I started out trying to get a silhouette shot, an that just was not working out - so I switched gears. The rose is sitting on my pile of Wine Spectator magazines. Overall I was pleased with the composition.
My apologies for not posting in over 2 weeks. I have been taking pictures each day but have also been trying to organize all my photos on my computer and uploading new pic's while in the middle of that process can be a bit difficult! So here comes a bunch! Ray, Connor and I were playing fort in the front yard. The grass made it more challenging for them to stand up - but it was still fun!
